Öl & Whiskymässa 2014

We didn't think we were going to get to visit the beer and whisky fair in Gothenburg this year because the tickets sold out before we were able to make travel commitments. However, the Swedes managed to find tickets for us and told us we could crash on their couch so we adjusted our travel arrangements!

This year's event was in the same venue as last year's (including the strange, colorful decorations hanging from the ceiling).

A few booths such as this one reminded us of brew fests in Oregon.

This cute girl kept stealing my Smuttynose DIPA.

It's worth a trip to Gothenburg just to eat Janssons frestelse at Kometen.

The Swedes' apartment is on a hill in a lovely part of town.

We rode a ferry so we could see the city from a boat. I casually snapped this picture of Becca lingering near a Swedish Joaquin Phoenix.

After we reached the last ferry stop we took a walk to the edge of town to see some stupid rock that someone famous was supposedly murdered on or something. The view was nice and the weather was perfect.

We just happened to be in town during the first weekend of the year when all of the restaurants where allowed to open their outdoor seating. It was sunny but not always warm enough to sit outside.

The Swedes took us to the ocean so we could eat some kebab and do a little fishing. It's a good thing we brought kebab because we didn't catch any fish to eat.

At first we thought the rising moon was a very bright light on the hill.

We spent five excellent nights there hanging out with the Swedes, exploring the city, eating Swedish food, and drinking cheap(er) beer. And then we boarded a plane to Amsterdam.
