We have been keeping busy and enjoying the beuatiful weather here in Trondheim. It snowed a bit more after my last post. Overall we ended up with about 9 inches. It has been slowly melting off for the past couple of weeks though. There is still some snow on the ground, but there is also a quite bit of ice. Downtown is a bit icier than it is near our house on the hill so I get to slip and slide to work every day.

Icy sidewalks and a little bit of snow.
We also ended up with some pretty good sized icicles!

Icicles!
I took my students ice skating last week. There a quiet a few free, outdoor skating rinks that pop up around Trondheim during the winter. There is one a few blocks from our house that Daniel and I have been to a few times. There is also one about a 10 minute walk from school. The weather has been so nice so we decided that we should take to opportunity to get outside for a little while. We skated for a couple of hours. The kids had a great time. So did I!

Daniel had the opportunity to go snowboarding with some colleagues last week. They went to an alpine skiing/snowboarding hill that is about 30 km from our house. Daniel had a lot of fun but doesn't appreciate Scandinavian ski lifts. They are essentially plastic boat anchors attached to retractable cords that you shove between your legs so they can pull you up the hill.

Daniel also was able to go cross country skiing this week with other colleagues. There are several cross country ski areas close to our house. They went to Granåsen, which is a ski center about 11 km away on the other side of town. There is a big cross country ski arena there as well as a huge ski jump. He had a lot of fun on his first ever cross country ski outing and learned that if you are careening out of control it is practical to yell "Jeg er Dansk!"

It is now officially Winter break here in Norway so Daniel and I are going on vacation. We are headed to Great Britain for a week!
